Join me in my efforts to support Arthritis Foundation, Heartland Region-Chicagoland!

Hello friends and family! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. On October 8th, I will run my second marathon and am raising money for The Arthritis Foundation in honor of my Mom and Dad, who are both living with Arthritis.

Arthritis is very common but is not well understood. It is an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease. There are more than 100 different†types of arthritis†and related conditions and more than 50†million adults and 300,000 children have some type of arthritis. The Arthritis Foundationís mission is to help conquer everyday battles through advocacy, access to optimal care, community connections and searching for a cure.

If you ask me the reason I started running and the reason I continue to, the answer is very simple: my Dad. When I was 15 years old, I went through thyroid issues resulting in surgery at Childrenís Memorial Hospital. Leave it to my Dad to register for his first marathon that year, inspired by fundraising for that very hospital that helped me overcome my thyroid condition.

Since then, my Dad has run 10 marathons, including qualifying for the Boston Marathon and the New York City Marathon. Throughout his marathon journey, he selflessly raised money for The Diabetes Association, The Lupus Society of Illinois and Childrenís Memorial Hospital to support his loved ones.

My Dad was by my side every step of the way for my very first 5K, half-marathon and full marathon and all the races and training runs in between. Some of my greatest life memories are crossing the many finish lines holding my Dadís hand in the air.

Due to Arthritis, my Dadís marathon journey came to an end in December of 2015, when the family history of Arthritis caught up to him. My Mom has been living with Lupus for a few years now, and recently has been diagnosed with Arthritis as a result of it. They are both affected daily by this disease and I am proud to be fundraising for an organization that strives to help find a cure.

On October 8th, I will run the Chicago Marathon with Team Conquer Arthritis in honor of my parents, who have taught me both in running and in life the true meaning of perseverance, dedication and pure joy.

Thank you for supporting Arthritis Foundation, Heartland Region-Chicagoland. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
